Achievements
In recognition of their dedication and impact, Saanvi and Jillian were honored with the inaugural Youth Philanthropist Award in 2024 by the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools. This distinction highlighted their leadership and commitment to serving others through Lives Through Letters.
That same year, the two were also selected to participate in the prestigious YMCA Changemakers Summit, a national program that brings together young leaders from across the United States who are working to strengthen their communities. The summit provides students with the opportunity to present their initiatives, engage in leadership development, and collaborate with peers equally committed to creating meaningful change.
Although Saanvi was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, Jillian was joined by Madelyn Johnson, the Liberty High School chapter leader, in traveling to Washington, D.C. Together, they presented Lives Through Letters before a panel of judges, attended keynote sessions from inspirational leaders, and networked with the 39 other youth-led groups chosen from across the country to participate in the event.
To add a personal and memorable touch, Madelyn and Jillian prepared a set of handmade letters for each group in attendance. Each letter featured the name of the state represented, illustrations of iconic items associated with that state, and a heartfelt good-luck message. This creative gesture reflected the mission of Lives Through Letters itself—using words and thoughtfulness to foster connection, encouragement, and kindness.
